This is the final version of my Enterprise-E warp jump animation — rendered and composited to capture the look and feel of Star Trek: The Motion Picture and The Wrath of Khan.
I’ve always loved those early warp effects. They have a very distinct, long-exposure look — bright, layered, and full of motion. I wanted to see what that classic style would feel like if applied to a Sovereign-class starship, combining the aesthetics of the early films with a ship from the post-TNG era.
This piece was animated and rendered in Blender, with compositing and finishing done in After Effects. The warp trails are created entirely through motion blur — no plugins, just a lot of samples and some patience.
The Enterprise-E model was kindly provided by IRML. Hands down the best Sovereign-class model out there. And I’ve got big plans for her.
Render times were long, but absolutely worth it. The nacelle glows, star streaks, and energy transitions finally came together exactly as I pictured when I started this project.
